This news is pretty exciting, right up until you read the finer print. Although this device is the closest we are getting to VR on the Switch right now, it is not exactly VR at all, but a "Switch headset" which is quite a different beast altogether.
Canadian company exklim is releasing a headset called the 'NS Glasses', which have been described as the "world's first headset for Switch", a claim that is not exactly true, but close enough. The device, which is not an official Nintendo product, has a locking mechanism that will keep your Switch held in place on your face, with a smart design that lets the Joy-Con charge and the fans to operate as they should, so there shouldn't be a fear of overheating. It has a pad and a strap to hook the whole thing to your face, and it honestly doesn't look all that bad, for a device that holds a friggin console to your noggin.
The problem here is that this is a "headset" not a "VR" device, and it's a good thing they made the distinction, since otherwise there very well could be a lawsuit. The NS Glasses use "color switching technology" that gives you the impression of 3D technology, but not 3D itself. The device also "smooths the pixel count" which is another cheat of sorts, giving you the impression of a better resolution, without giving you better resolution.
What do you think? You can preorder here to get the NS glasses for 50% off, making them 50 bucks, but is it worth it? Are you interested? Let me know in the comments.
