The Hitman series is excellent, but I'll admit, I've never had the patience to truly appreciate it. For some reason, a game like Metal Gear or Tenchu will suck me in for hours, despite my clumsy attempts at being stealthy, while Hitman tends to get me to fast pitch my controller into the wall. I'm not sure why, exactly; it might be the sheer amount of options, my own lack of stealthy creativity, or maybe the length/size of the levels. I just kind of suck at these games, even though I admittedly like playing them.
However, the new Hitman has me excited in a way that I haven't been for a while, and I think it's mainly because there seems to be a bit more hand-holding than usual going on here, especially the little screen that pops up and shows you how and where the guards are being made aware of your presence. For example, if you knocked out a guard, dumped him in a barrel and another finds him, you'll get notified of the guard's discovery, no matter where you are in a level, allowing you to hide, bum rush your target, or find a new disguise. Sure, it might end up making the game easier, but after playing the same level 4 times for 20 minutes a piece and losing, I'll take a little hand-holding. I suck, alright?
Hitman 2 also just went gold, which is largely symbolic, but it does mean that the game is actually on the way (not that there was much doubt). Check out the new trailer below, which shows you just some of the myriad ways that you are going to be able to kill, maim, detonate and destroy your enemies. I am wondering if you are even going to need your famous baller .45s with this many options. In an earlier trailer, you beat a man to death with a fish.
Hitman 2 will be out for PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 13, 2018.
