This trailer shows off a big chunk of gameplay, and it is looking pretty damn incredible. We see some of the new features here, more info on your horse, in addition to set-pieces that pop up as you travel through the town and country, making the world really feel lived in and alive. It looks like you can aim freely and there is a first person style aim as well, which I am sure people will only use to shoot guns out of bandit's hands, sheriff's hat's off their heads, and not at all to shoot people in the balls while laughing hysterically as they writhe around.
There's also going to be an online component, which was covered during an IGN Q&A session with some Rockstar developers, where they discussed why the online component won't be released with the rest of the game. Design director Imran Sarwar said:
“Red Dead Redemption 2 is an absolutely massive story-based game that we hope people will be lost in for a long time and we want people to experience everything that world has to offer before we build on that with the Online experience” while also stating that “we [at Rockstar] see them essentially as separate products that will grow and evolve independently of each other” and saying that the team has learned after launching online games that there are bound to be a few issues and that they wish to roll out the game as smoothly as possible."
Watch the trailer below, this game is shaping up to be something great.
