If you like the driving and the racing, you should watch this new trailer for Gear.Club Unlimited 2, and see if it's your thing. Me personally, I like more the Need For Speed style racers vs the Gran Turismos, much like I prefer NBA Jam to NBA 2K-whatever the hell. I like keeping my racers fast and loose, and if there's a nitro button, I'm even happier.
The video introduces players to the performance shop's new features, and also shows how the garage can be fully personalized and used by players to upgrade and customize their vehicles.
The basics behind the garage are pretty simple, and if you've played any racer almost ever, you'll catch on quick; hell, even Off-Road had some upgradable elements. You do have to balance your upgrades, though, so for example, if a car is too light, too powerful and fitted with original equipment tires, it will be very difficult to drive and you'll end up humping a ditch. They've added a workshop manager to make things a bit simpler though, and they will help to guide you through the myriad choices you'll have, like the characteristics of materials and laws of physics you'll have to take into consideration to create balanced cars that offer a realistic driving experience.
Here are the seven different workshops, which you can get a better look at in the video.
- Mechanical Workshop: modify engines and gearboxes to make cars more powerful
- Body Workshop: reduce the weight of cars to make them faster
- Wind Tunnel: improve car aerodynamics
- Tires Workshop: change brakes and tires to improve grip
- Graphic Workshop: change colors and apply stickers to cars to make them unique
- Cosmetic Workshop: customize cars, from the hood to the spoiler!
- Rally Workshop: modify cars to compete on sand tracks in rally mode
