Sorry guys, this month ain't doing much for us. Sure, sure, Battlefield 1 was just fine, but who wants to play that right now, when Battlefield 5 is coming out on November 20th? Not many, I'd wager. Much like Assassin's Creed; sure the game is fine, just fine... if I lived in like, the year 2000. SLAM! And, yes, I know it didn't come out in 2000, it's called exaggeration, alright? Lay off.
Now, Race the Sun is a bit of a different story. This is a low-tech but badass racer that not a ton of people have heard of. This game got pretty great reviews at launch, and if you are looking for an innovative, fresh racer, you really should give this thing a shot. In Race the Sun, you are a solar-powered craft, and the sun is your death timer. You hurtle towards the sunset at breakneck speed in a futile race against time. Race The Sun is inspired by arcade games of the past with a focus on high scores, short game sessions, and a sense of pure fun mingled with a nerve-wracking tension. The rules are simple: don't crash, stay in the light, and don't slow down.
The final game this month is one that hurt me deeply; Dante’s Inferno. (November 16–30 Xbox 360/Xbox One). Oh, Dante's Inferno. In a time when games like God of War were king, Dante's inferno jumped in the ring, with badass religious overtones and a cool protagonist in Dante. The game's story is loosely based on Inferno, the first canticle of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. It follows Dante, imagined as a Templar knight from the Crusade, who, guided by the spirit of the poet Virgil, needs to fight through the nine Circles of Hell to rescue Beatrice from the clutches of Lucifer.
The problem is, the game begins with unique vision and beautifully realized enemies and levels, then quickly devolves into repetition. I looked up the reviews and they are surprisingly high, but I remember being of another mind, and I remember the game getting pretty well owned over the lack of diversity. I love the work it's based off of, and this game made me sad. Shame on you, Dante.
Key please?
