Call of Cthulhu is the game adaptation of Chaosium's tabletop RPG, out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. They had a pretty solid release last week, and apparently, they want to jam it in everyone's faces. Check out the trailer below for all the praise.
Call of Cthulhu has a hard Lovecraftian influence, from Old Gods to other cosmic horrors, so you'll probably be in some state of deepening insanity as the main character. You take on the role of investigator Edward Pierce, a former war veteran and private investigator in 1920s Boston, who delves into the mystery behind the deaths of the Hawkins family. The locals of Darkwater Island are both helpful and mad mysterious, in a classic, "Who can you trust?" type of situation, where your journey for the truth brings you ever closer to the Great Dreamer, an old god who is most likely not on your side.
Whether you're getting outnumbered by humans or "facing foes whose mere existence is beyond human comprehension," you're not exactly a strapping physical specimen, so you'l need to make the most of Pierce's detective skill-set, along with subterfuge and stealth. The Great Dreamer is waiting, and he's probably going to either eat your soul, or your face. Hell, probably both.
Get detecting.
