If you've ever wanted all the glitz and glamour that comes from being a professional fisherman without the smell and towering waves, The King Crab DLC is here. The DLC allows you to expand your fishing equipment and ship fleet so you can become a real (digital) king crab catcher. There are a couple new models of seacraft; the Selfy, which is based on the ship models of boat manufacturer Arctic AS, and the powerful Svalbard are both available for traversing the high seas, plus they are loaded to the gills (hey-oooo) with the necessary equipment to make a name for yourself in Northern Norway.
There are a bunch of new mini games to test the skills of newbie crustacean hunters depending on what ship you're on. For example, hauling crab pots works manually on the small Selfy, while the giant pots on the deck of the Svalbard are so big that you'll need a strong strong crane to lift them. The mini-game has you attempting to coordinate the hauling of the pots in order to place the freshly caught crabs next to the sorting table, and then you'll need to reload the crab cages with fresh bait and haul them out to the seabed.
Other mini-games require you to sort the crabs by gender, as you'll have to stick to real-life legal requirements, since only male crabs can be caught and sold, while the females need to be tossed back.
The King Crab DLC for Fishing: Barents Sea is out now on Steam for 11.99 USD.
