Well, this is a bit of a no-brainer, like inducting Led Zeppelin into the rock and roll hall of fame; you've known it's coming for a long time, but it's still nice when it finally happens. Finally, Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has gotten a lifetime achievement award from the recent Golden Joysticks celebration.

Miyazaki joined From Software as a game planner in 2004, and went on to direct Armored Core 4 and Armored Core: For Answer. While that was all well and good, he became a household name for creating and directing the Souls series, beginning with Demon's Souls in 2009, and going on to work on Bloodborne and Dark Souls II. Due to the timing of the games, and despite directing the first two games, he took on a supervising role for Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne, since he couldn't do both at once. After Bloodborne, Miyazaki came back to the Souls series as lead director on Dark Souls III. He may be finished with the Souls titles, but we are all pumped for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

In a recent press release, Daniel Dawkins, Global Editor-In-Chief of GamesRadar+ had this to say;

“We are extremely honored to have awarded Hidetaka Miyazaki the Lifetime Achievement award, a man whose games are widely considered among the most influential of his generation. We are delighted that he could join us on-stage to accept the honour from fantasy luminaries Ian Livingstone CBE and Steve Jackson whose works were so influential on Miyazaki’s distinctive style.”

The now FromSoftware CEO accepted the award, saying, “To receive such a prestigious award from the Golden Joysticks fills me with great surprise and a sense of great honour. I am tremendously grateful to everyone who has played, enjoyed and appreciated our games. Rather than myself, this award goes to the many people who have built these games with me, and shared their passion with me over the years.”
