We enjoyed Battletech quite a bit when we reviewed it earlier this year on PC. An XCOM style, tactical, turn-based strategy game from Hare Brained Schemes, you are put in charge of a mercenary company, responsible for a team of giant mechs (and the men and women who pilot them), who accept missions from various faction leaders, using the cash you obtain to keep your mechs running properly and purchase crucial upgrades so you can keep punching, stomping and blasting everything in your path.
Here's what our reviewer had to say about the original title:
"If you are a fan of the original board game or you just love strategy games you need to check this out. With a rich single player experience as well as a great game engine and mechanics there is more to keep the average Battletech fan coming back for more."
Flashpoint will launch alongside a free update, which will add a slew of new content, as well as Linux support on all distribution platforms. The update (1.3), features an all new Career Mode, which gives players the additional challenge of beginning the game with the Argo in a random system, where they will attempt to survive without the big payouts from story missions. The patch also features revamped MechWarrior-abilities based on fan feedback, a revision of the reputation system that increases how players will feel the effects of their actions, in addition to new events with cameos from legendary MechWarriors, new Mercenary contracts (with pirates!) and more.
Battletech Flashpoint will launch next Tuesday, November 27,
