CD Projekt Red, known best for The Witcher franchise just announced the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launch of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales and Gwent: The Witcher Card Game.
Thronebreaker is a single player role-playing game set in the world of The Witcher, combining a narrative-driven exploration title with puzzles and turn-based card battles. We checked out the title for PC, and our reviewer praised its mature story telling, length and artwork, while being a bit disappointed at the enemy AI, and some of the quests that he thought were a bit silly, clashing with the somber tone of the title.
Here's what we had to say about the PC version:
"Thronebreaker is a solid game. It is fairly obvious that the game serves most prominently as a tutorial for Gwent and the player is regularly encouraged to partake in the multiplayer portion through frequent reminders that it exists. There isn't much gameplay besides Gwent; the overworld is quite dull, the story is decently told but not infinitely engaging, and moral dilemmas get solved in seconds with few discernible repercussions. I can only recommend it those who are already fans of card games or story-heavy experiences."
