These backwards compatible titles have been pretty hit and miss, but these three are all actually not bad. I realize that I am going to get some grief by saying that The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is "not bad" but go give it a shot. Now that some time has passed, I swear it's actually pretty fun, albeit in a completely not XCOM kind of way.
Here are the three new games, available now:
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
The year is 1962 and the Cold War has the nation gripped by fear. A top-secret government unit called The Bureau begins investigating a series of mysterious attacks by an enemy more powerful than communism. As agent Carter, call the shots, pull the trigger and lead your squad in a gripping third-person tactical shooter set within a covert war to protect humanity from an otherworldly enemy.
The Darkness
Although I enjoyed the sequel quite a bit more than this one, it's still a fun game that has some great ideas. A first-person shooter by Starbreeze Studios, the game was released in 2007 in North America and Europe and is based on the comic book of the same name. You are Jackie Estacado (voiced by Kirk Acevedo), young buck gangster in a baller crime family, who, on the eve of his 21st birthday, is targeted for assassination by "Uncle" Paulie Franchetti, a New York Mafia boss. Things look grim until the Darkness (voiced by Mike Patton), an ancient, bloodthirsty demonic force that has inhabited Jackie's family for several generations, awakens within Jackie and slaughters the remaining mobsters, and then inhabits Jackie, who can now control unholy demonic abilities that work only in the dark.
Duke Nukem Forever
Finally, I'll have to admit that I lied. Duke Nukem Forever sucks. You know it, I know it, it's sad, but that's the deal. If somehow you don't know about one of the biggest disappointments in gaming history, Duke Nukem was once a great game. Then, a LOT of years went by. We waited. And waited. Eventually, they gave us this. We were not happy.
The End.
All these backwards compatible titles are available now, and if you own the discs, you just pop em in and play. If you don't, the games are on sale in the Microsoft store for $4 a piece.
