This gameplay trailer is looking pretty badass. Outward is an open-world fantasy adventure game where the game-world itself requires biological maintenance and self-preservation against a harsh, unforgiving environment. These simulation aspects extend to the game's representation of magic as an intricate web of rituals that are required to evoke supernatural powers, so no simple button taps to unleash a magical storm here. The game also has two-player local and online multiplayer, with local split-screen, which is definitely a rarity for RPGs.
As a regular human being, players will face a variety of dangers, both magical and, well, mundane. Exposure to the elements is just as likely to kill a player as the monsters that roam through the world. To survive, you'll have to grow and master the game's weapons, traps, and magic, and learn to kick hardcore ass, by yourself or with a buddy.
The game will hit PlayStation4, Xbox One, and Steam on March 26th, 2019.
