9 Monkeys of Shaolin is an upcoming beat-em-up from Sobaka studio, the same people behind Redeemer, which was a brutal, fun brawler with a few flaws (read our full review of Redeemer, here). We just got news that physical copies will be available for not only 9 Monkeys, but also Redeemer Enhanced Edition and Ash Of Gods, all due to a recent partnership with Koch Media. Distribution of 9 Monkeys of Shaolin will run through Europe and the US, including the aforementioned physical copies.
In 9 Monkeys of Shaolin, you assume the role of a humble Chinese fisherman named Wei Cheng, who is looking to avenge the death of his friends and family, who were all slaughtered in a pirate raid at your (once) peaceful village. It just so happens, that Wei Cheng is hip to the ancient martial arts that tend to only be mastered by legendary Shaolin monks. He picks up his battle staff and gets straight to whipping wholesale ass.
The game features 3 unique fighting styles, following the old school earth and wind, augmented by mysterious magic seals, so you can really get in there and mix it up. There's a character development system, where you'll learn different paths to victory and discover various unlockable perks, polearms, items and fighting styles, all taking place across 25 levels with the option to get your friends involved with co-op.
9 Monkeys of Shaolin currently has no release date, but is slated for the second half of 2019.
