We enjoyed Attack of the Earthlings quite a bit when it arrived on PC last year (see our full review here), and now it’s out for Playstation and XBox for you console lovers out there. Attack of the Earthlings is a turn-based combat title that’s combined with stealth, framed in a darkly comedic single player campaign, where you take control of a native alien race to defend your home world from the invading humans. There aren’t a ton of games where humans are the invaders (despite almost every space alien movie ever made centered around this plot), so the fresh take on the genre is welcome.
The game tells the story of a ridiculously dysfunctional energy corporation called Galactoil, who will stop at nothing to explore the known universe for energy, drilling into pretty much anything and everything in order to make more profit, so basically… Earth corporations. Galactoil’s latest venture into energy exploration on Planet X13 has placed them in a tight spot, as the Swarmers, the native insectoid species, have decided that they best way to handle this intrusion is just to eat all the human workers. You control the Swarmers.
To put a stop to the human invasion, the Swarmers must plan their attacks carefully, taking control of human workers, setting traps, popping out of vents to deliver a little death, hiding around corners and flat out rushing groups of enemies to take out a host of humans all that once. The more earthlings you kill the more corpses you can use to turn into new units will special roles and abilities.
Attack of the Earthlings is out now for Xbox, PS4 and PC.
Good game
