After all the waiting and guessing, it has finally been confirmed; award winning, critically acclaimed, all around badass 2D platformer, Cuphead, is coming to Nintendo Switch, after the game was previously a Microsoft exclusive. Cuphead will land on the Nintendo eShop on April 18th.
Studio MDHR Co-Director Chad Moldenhauer had his to say about the announcement:
"It’s no secret that Cuphead is a direct descendant of retro action games like Contra on the NES, so it’s surreal to finally have one of our own games on a Nintendo system. We’re beyond thrilled to be able to bring Cuphead to a brand new audience on Nintendo Switch. Playing the game on a console with such a big focus on local co-op really reminds Jared and I of our days gaming together as kids."
The digital version will drop on the 18th of April and a physical copy will arrive after the downloadable content has been released, but regardless, you'll be getting some extra goodies. The digital copy will retail for $19.99 USD, and in addition to the Switch launch, we'll also see a major free content update across all versions of the game (Xbox One, PC, Mac) on the same day.
The new, free content update will give you some great features, like playable Mugman in single-player, new fully animated cutscenes, never-before-seen art and fight intros, ten additional languages, a ton of bug fixes, and plenty of secrets for players to discover.
