Everybody I know is all about this series, but I kind of checked out after 8, to be honest. There is something both liberating and constricting about sitting down for a 70 hour adventure, where you mostly do the same damn thing. Not trashing the series, but as I get a bit older, I prefer to keep my games around the twenty hour mark. Unless it's Dark Souls. Sweet, sweet Dark Souls.
The featurette below, titled “Inside Final Fantasy IX,” gives you an insider look at some of the secrets and anecdotes from the development of the game, and has some pretty heavy hitting interviews with industry ballers like:
- Shinji Hashimoto (Producer)
- Toshiyuki Itahana (Artist)
- Kazuhiko Aoki (Event Designer)
- Nobuaki Komoto (Event Planner)
If you like this, take heart! This is only the first in an ongoing series of developer featurettes that will take players on a deep dive into the legacy of the series, promising to bring together interviews with a variety of original creators, artists and developers in one easy to watch place..
If you're a bit rusty on your lore, FFIX is kind of a love story, but it is also packed with war and betrayal in a magical world full of pretty memorable characters. I mean, we're not talking FFVII memorable, but there's some good ones here. It surrounds Zidane and the Tantalus Theater Troupe who have kidnapped Princess Garnet, the heir of Alexandria, but are surprised when they realize that the princess was planning to GTFO on her own already. They team up, friendships are formed, bonds are tested and enemies are made as they traverse the yeah, it's all there in the video.
Check it out.
