According to the Washington Post, we may be getting a couple new versions of the Switch as early as this summer. Citing sources in parts suppliers and software developers, the two models will be pretty different from one another, with one model rocking “enhanced features, targeted at avid videogamers, although it won’t be as powerful as Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 4 Pro or Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One X.”” and another “cheaper option," with "enhanced features.
The news that any Switch version won't be as powerful as Xbox or Playstation is no surprise, but it will be interesting to find out just what these souped up features will be. The cheaper upcoming option for the more casual gamer is reportedly being seen as more of a successor to the 3DS, their extremely popular , dual screen handheld device. The model will be cheaper due to some cut features, specifically the vibration option among others.
It is pretty interesting to get two different, new models, instead of just a souped up Switch or a successor to the 3DS as many people expected. Speaking of expectations, most likely we will get some more info soon now that the leak has occurred, and I would assume that a certain major upcoming gaming expo (if you didn't figure it out, E3, dum dum) will be the perfect stage to deliver the news.
