World War Z was announced back in December as a four player, third person cooperative shooter, based on the 2013(!) film World War Z, which is surprising, because 2013 was, you know half a decade ago. As you may imagine, the cooperative combat pits you and some pals against overwhelming numbers of zombies, while you use guns, defensive traps and emplacements to take down the waves of ravenous undead. Get some.
This new “Stories In Tokyo” gameplay trailer brings players to Japan, where hordes of zombies pour through narrow streets and urban jungles, pushing players to the edge of the sea, where you better hope they have 50 cal. machine guns and bazookas. The Tokyo episode features two missions at launch, with a bonus mission arriving for free shortly after release.
Powered by Saber’s "Swarm Engine", World War Z is claiming to be able to (and better be able to, given the nature of the game) unleash hundreds of fast-moving zombies who can move and strike as a collective herd as well as break off into individual attackers to come at players one on one. You can choose from six classes and an arsenal of deadly weapons, explosives, turrets and traps as you travel around the world, kicking undead ass in places like New York, Jerusalem, Moscow and Tokyo. You'll inevitably battle zombies and real human opponents alike in competitive, team-based Players vs. Players vs. Zombies (PvPvZ) multiplayer.
World War Z will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and Steam in 2019.
