We've been hearing trickles of information about this one for a while, and now we finally have something concrete from developers Lizardcube (Wonder Boy) and Guard Crush Games; a trailer! That's right, Streets of Rage 4, the next game in the longstanding line of arcade brawlers has a teaser and you can check it out below.
If you've never played this classic before, Streets of Rage, known as Bare Knuckle in Japan, is a trilogy of beat 'em up games developed and published by SEGA back in the 1990s. The first title was by far the best but the rest of the series was no slouch either, although it did get a little goofy, especially when they introduced a rollerblading teenager as a playable character. To be fair though, rollerblading was hot as hell in the 90's. Now, after over twenty years, Axel and Blaze are finally picking up the fight where they left off, kicking ass to save the city.
Now, there looks to be a focus on juggle attacks and special moves, which look cartoonishly awesome. Axel has a Ryu/Ken style dragon punch that sucks enemies up into a fire vortex, and a regular fire punch as well. Blaze looks like she has an energy kick that she can use to augment her normal backwards flip kick, and the animation looks fantastic, which makes sense, give that they are hand drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake.
