Billing itself as a "quicker version of Civilization", Waves of the Atlantide (WotA) is a strange mix of genres, at once a battle royale game, a board game and an RTS with a focus on strategy over tactics, but without taking a million hours to complete. In WotA, you can finish an entire game is under 25 minutes or so, thanks to the battle royale mode. They want you to think Civilization mixed with Risk, having a battle royale baby. If this all still sounds confusing, here's what the CEO of Metaphore games had to say:
“Waves of the Atlantide differentiates from 4X games by offering short games and simplified gameplay. It’s actually an RTS with alternative gameplay”.
