Days Gone, the upcoming action-adventure survival horror video game developed by SIE Bend Studio and published by Sony is releasing more and more gameplay lately, and it's all looking like it's shaping up to be something... familiar. Set in a (wait for it) post-apocalyptic open world and played from a third-person perspective, you wouldn't be crazy to think that it sounds a lot like, well, a hundred other titles where you inhabit a post-apocalyptic open world and play from a third-person perspective against the undead. However, much like the upcoming World War Z, the stakes are higher and the zombies are more plentiful than, say, The Last Of Us or Resident Evil 2 and the survival mechanics will hopefully set it apart from its contemporaries .
You'll control Deacon St. John (Sam Witwer), a once outlaw who now just roams around on his sweet motorcycle, bounty hunting and shooting the undead in the face. The game takes place two years after a global pandemic occurred which predictably wiped out most of humanity and turned a ton more people into "Freakers", mindless zombie-like creatures that are quickly evolving into something even more dangerous and deadly.
Similar to Mad Max, your vehicle will play an important role in the game, with the ability to upgrade the bike in myriad ways, like speed, armor, maneuverability and more. There are also crafting elements to improve your combat skills and weapons, so you're more effective against the "Freakers". Stealth elements are balanced against long and short range combat options, and a dynamic weather system with a day-night cycle will also change things up, making "Freakers" weak and slow by day but fast and strong by night.
