Recently showcased at GDC and PAX East, this game has the team here at DLH.net pretty excited. The title features a blend of narrative driven gameplay and some pretty brutal looking dungeon crawling missions in the style of Darkest Dungeon.

In Vambrace: Cold Soul players are tasked with exploring the cursed city of Icenaire, and much like Darkest Dungeon, you'll be assembling a team and readying them for the challenges to come, so the game is almost equally made up of selecting and outfitting your warriors correctly as it is executing the mission. Once you're outfitted, you better execute good, because the King of Shades has cursed the city of Icenaire so it's under a permanent frost fall, its former residents have returned from the dead as mad Wraiths, so just about everyone is having a bad time. Survivors have no choice but to hide underground out of necessity, as they are crazy over matched, especially since the King of Shades is making more junior white walkers every day. Things are looking grim until (waaaaaait fooooor iiiiiiiit) a mysterious stranger appears in the city with an enchanted vambrace.

So what?, you may say. They need a dumptruck full of uzis, not a stranger with a relic. But, as these stories tend to go, what they need is a stranger with a relic, as the Vambrace is the only thing that will let a human enter the cursed city of Icenaire. Now, you'll just need to choose party members, each with their own unique strengths and embark on expeditions where permadeath is a thing and the dungeons are littered with traps and monsters.

The team at Devespresso and Headup was originally aiming for an April release, but decided to spend some additional time fine-tuning the title. Now, they're looking at releasing on Steam, May 28th. The release dates for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One are still set to Q3 2019.
