I want this is to be good. I really do. I mean, I'm a reasonable guy, I like Godzilla. I like any film that has monstrous titans beating the everlasting hell out of one another. But man, could they have botched this trailer any worse? I mean, you got smiling faces, about three scenes of people caressing monsters like they're hamsters or something, you got "somewhere over the rainbow" playing for some nonsensical reason, a close-up of some kid who is probably Godzilla psychic or some crap screaming his head off and then, finally, some terrible one liners tossed out with flat delivery and inexpressive faces, "No... this time we will join the fight."
Ugh, this trailer really turned me off. It's badass, ancient monsters beating the shit out of each other and we get "somewhere over the rainbow"? The hell?
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a legion of 17 monsters, including Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s existence hanging in the balance.
Watch the trailer, and tell me I'm wrong in my assessment. Godzilla: King of the Monsters - Final Trailer - In Theaters May 31
