When this was first speculated, there was a little tiny bit of evidence, stirring the pot, making everyone go totally insane, followed by years of hilarious silence. We're talking back in the days of PS3, like 2005, so people have been waiting a long time. The Final Fantasy VII remake talk was sparked at the 2005 E3 convention by the release of a video featuring the opening sequence of Final Fantasy VII recreated using the PlayStation 3's graphical capabilities, but SquareEnix repeatedly said that it was not in development.
Finally they stopped BSing and admitted that a high definition remake was absolutely being made, announced at E3 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and in May 2019 Playstation's State of Play livestream a teaser trailer was revealed. The game will be more than a high definition remaster, with director Nomura stating that the game will have changes made to its story and combat system. It looks from the trailer like it isn't even turn based.
What do you think (besides that the video looks amazing, of course, because it does)? You think that throwing the turn based gameplay out the window was a good move?
Lemme know in the comments.
