Not sure if you guys have ever been to a block party, but these things are generally held outside. I mean, that's what a block party is. It's on the block. Outside. Also, generally, a block party is a time to open up to your neighbors; perhaps one house has ribs, another chicken, someone is making hot dogs, everyone has drinks, it's a real communal, free type of thing, where you fellowship in good faith. What do you wanna bet this somehow is going to cost like $50 a person? Let's find out together, shall we?
Epic Games will host the Fortnite Summer Block Party, a two-day event celebrating the Fortnite community. The event will feature top creators and celebrities like Ninja, Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco, Dillon Francis, KittyPlays, Cray and Jordan Fisher, and will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. On June 15, fans can watch celebrities, YouTubers and their favorite streamers battle it out in the first-ever Creative tournament. Teams will fight it out on a new player-made game designed specifically for this event, and then on June 16, the Celebrity Pro-Am will return for its second year.
So far so good. Now we get to the important part: tickets to attend the Summer Block Party will start at $35, giving fans access to both days of activities including the Fortnite Fan Festival. Attendees will have the chance to meet more than 20 characters including Peely, Fishstick and Brite Bomber; glide on the island's trademark ziplines (ok, that's sick); visit attractions such as the Pirate Ship and Fortnite Mini Golf; explore in-game eateries Durr Burger, Pizza Pete's, Sofdeez Ice Cream Shop and more.
Dammit, alright, that actually sounds kinda cool. I wonder if the ziplines are free or you gotta pay, and I also have questions about food costs, but let's hear what ol Stuart has to say, SVP of eSports:
"As gaming solidifies its position as one of the fastest-growing consumer trends globally, we are excited to work with Epic Games to provide Fortnite's 250 million-player fan base the opportunity to get even closer to the action. The Summer Block Party will demonstrate the collective power of the Fortnite community and the strength of the brand, building on the success of last year's record-breaking Pro-Am Charity Tournament."
You ever notice how these people always talk like robots? "will demonstrate the collective power and strength of the Fortnite brand..." who talks like that?
Verified fan registration is open now and will close on Monday, May 13 at 10pm PT. To pre-register, fans should visit Fortnite's Ticketmaster Verified Fan website, enter their information and when tickets go on-sale they will be among the first to be notified. Fortnite partnered with Ticketmaster and its Verified Fan program to help remove scalpers and bots from the ticketing process to better ensure tickets get directly into the hands of fans.
