Battalion 1944 just launched out of Steam EA, and if that isn't enough to get your stick grenade up, there's also a major new update launching with it: Battalion 1944: Eastern Front, which introduces an all new Russian faction.
Here's what you might not know; Battalion 1944 is a multiplayer first-person shooter title from Square Enix that was announced via a kickstarter campaign on February 3, 2016. Set during World War II the game is one of the first from studio Bulkhead Interactive (Pneuma: Breath of Life), a studio composed of almost all former AAA developers. What does that mean? It means their game was funded on kickstarter in less than three days, son.
That's right. Three days.
The game was released out of early access today, and the update is going to spread some good old fashioned content across the title, like 8 new weapons (PPSH41, PPS43, Mosin Nagant Rifle, Mosin Nagant Scoped, TT-33, Baikal 22, SVT-40, Fedorov Avtomat), new competitive matchmaking powered by FACEIT, 3 all new maps based in real locations, like Italy, Russia and France and a new game mode, Free for All, where, you guessed it right, everyone becomes your enemy, and more.
Batallion 1944 is available now.
