This free-to-play, 60-player-cooperative, top-down MMO shooter is out now, and boy, that's a lot of adjectives. With the first beta starting today through the 26th, the devs are going to open the servers wide as an MF, and everyone is invited; all you have to do is download the game from Steam and jump in. Further betas will be held every weekend throughout the summer, so even if you miss this one, there will likely be additional weekday betas coming as well.
Steambirds Alliance lets you fly with up to 60 friends in an open world full of cat bosses (of course) and endless waves of deadly bullets. You'll be able to unlock and fly a wide variety of planes, each with their own unique abilities, with the usual classes represented, like Paladin (healer), Shield Maiden (protection unit), etc. Even if you lose your favorite plane, RPG mechanics like XP and skill-trees will let you continually progress, so all will not be lost when you lose.
With hundreds of enemies, tons of secret missions and a slew of bosses, the whole game is aimed at being a blast in co-op. The colorful art style and frenetic gameplay won't hurt either. Watch the trailer to see what I'm talking about below.
