Space Junkies, the jetpack-fueled VR arcade shooter where you battle it out while flying through deadly Orbital Arenas in space, just got a second, free, post-launch update for PSVR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality. That's right jet-junkies, season 1 episode 2 is introducing a variety of brand-new, high-flying content.
First up, there's Instablast mode, where all players have the same weapon and only need one shot to take down their opponents. It's a real sharpshooter's delight. Players will need to approach opponents strategically, as weapons must be reloaded after every shot, so missing once can easily lead to your death, no matter how feverishly you fly.
There are also two new maps added in the update, called Final Destination and Gunner Station and there are some more updates and improvements (and a price drop) that should serve to improve the game quite a bit.
As of now, PSMove controllers and smooth rotation are supported, which includes 3dRudder, the foot-based motion controller, available for early access users on PSVR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality. 3dRudder enables full locomotion of the feet, allowing players to move in all directions with more precision and speed, so you can now focus your hand controls on grabbing weapons, shooting down enemies while using a shield or hitting opponents with a laser sword. Get your footwork tight, or you'll probably be getting your ass kicked.
