This is a more laid back boxing title that doesn't go for hyper realism; think Need for Speed verses Gran Turismo. Boxing Champs gives you the classic punches, combinations, and knockouts you'd expect in a boxing title, allowing players to challenge friends in local multiplayer (an online mode is currently in the works) or in a full-blown Career mode with 30 preset characters and short three-round bouts. The game supports custom boxers as well which is a nice plus, and the customization system looks to be pretty robust:70+ hairstyles, hair color, body color, body type, gloves, shorts, and boxer stats.
There are also a slew of arenas you can brawl in, with different rings set in Las Vegas, New York, and Los Angeles) and four different champions that stand between players and the unified title. Regardless of where you throw down, boxers need to snap the jab from the outside and throw combinations, or get inside using hooks and uppercuts, winning by technical knock out (not as cool) or just an old fashioned knock out (badass).
Boxing Champs is available on Steam now.
