Headup and Devespresso Games are admitting that the launch of Vambrace: Cold Soul was a little rocky and that some gamers may have been turned off, but the team is putting their money where their mouths are, releasing the latest patch, v1.06, on Steam & GOG. The team has released a new update every single day, which is nice to see. I'm still irritated by releases that aren't ready and need multiple patches, but these guys are a four man team and clearly trying hard to get the game where it needs to be.
Here's what they had to say, "Perhaps you thought the game was promising, but were initially deterred by its difficulty, balance issues, or design choices. Many players are reporting their experience has completely turned around in less than a week thanks to the updates."
In Vambrace, the King of Shades has cursed the city of Icenaire. Now cast under a permanent blight of frost fall, its former residents have returned from the dead as mad Wraiths. Survivors take refuge deep underground where they lead a desperate campaign against this unearthly power. Woefully outmatched, they are forced into hiding as the King of Shades amasses an army of the undead above them. One fateful day, a mysterious stranger appears in the city with an enchanted vambrace.
You play as Evelia Lyric, bearer of the Aetherbrace and the only human capable of entering the cursed city of Icenaire. You must choose party members who will lend their unique strengths to your cause. Embark on expeditions and use perceptive allies to avoid traps and strange encounters. Leverage the strengths of fighters and magic wielders to survive deadly combat. You may be Icenaire's only hope...
In this new trailer, we see the cursed city, which is a truly hostile place. Each new room contains randomly generated events, ranging from traps, campsites, valuable treasure, merchants, strange encounters, and enemies. You also must keep an eye on your Geist-o-meter, which measures the Ghost Fog and keeps you one step ahead of the danger pursuing you.
Watch the trailer below to get a better feel for the world, Vambrace: Cold Soul is available now on Steam and GOG, and the release dates for Switch, PS4 and Xbox One are planned for Q3 2019; and all of those versions will contain all PC patches.
