Shang Tsung is a sorcerer. He's also a chameleon-like shapeshifter. He's was the Mortal Kombat tournament's grandmaster and boss of the original game. He's also an evil, rotten bastard, and now, you can be him!
Voiced and motion captured by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (who is reprising his role from the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie), Shang Tsung's abandoned island is the site of several battles in MK11 as the tournament fighters brawl it out over the souls that he has stored there. During the game, it's revealed that Kronika, the game's antagonist, has been supporting his efforts to accumulate souls so that she can use it as a power source in the event she needs to restart time (spoiler alert: she totally does). Shang Tsung also appears as the guardian of the krypt.
The trailer shows Shang Tsung shapeshift into multiple MK ninjas in addition to stealing the soul of Raiden and mirror-matching him and others. At the end of the trailer, three other characters were listed as well, including Nightwolf and Sindel, Shao Khan's wife who appeared in Mortal Kombat 3. Last mentioned was our first guest character, Spawn, who is getting his own movie... someday.
Check out the brutality below. My god, that fatality is vicious.
