God.... dammit. Although the season will still have ten episodes, the series has been cancelled. Despite premiering to a pretty fantastic reception on the pilot (92% on Rotten Tomatoes!), the show has been confirmed to be cancelled.
Blending a horror/suspenseful/anti-hero type of vibe together, the show had a lot of people excited, especially after the warmly received Titans (also on the DC exclusive streaming service), which I personally thought was pretty damned good, especially considering how bad everyone though that it was going to be after the whole "F$#k Batman" trailer.
The remainder of Swamp Thing will still air its remaining 9 episodes on DC Universe, but just know that this is it. The series premiered on May 31, and stars Andy Bean, Derek Mears, Crystal Reed, Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, and Jennifer Beals.
Here's the official synopsis:
"When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe."
Swamp Thing is out now for the last time.
