The Flash kind of sucked this season.

I know, I know, it's basically a show for "tweens" (shudder), but it began to grow on me. I'm a comic-book fan, so I definitely have a base interest but initially, I would only watch it in the background while incessantly making fun of it every time I walked past the television.

Then, after a while, I started to really enjoy it.

The show, as the critics say, has "heart".

But somewhere between The Flash, Kid Flash, Black Flash, Reverse-Flash 1.0, Reverse Flash 2.0, Jesse Quick, Jay Garrick (The Flash of Earth 3), Zoom, Trajectory, The Rival and Savitar (an alternate timeline Flash), I kinda started to get pissed.

In fact, I'm kinda getting pissed again just looking over this list.

Look guys, I know shows are expensive to make and you already spent money on the CGI "Flash effects", but for god's sake. Is there anyone on this world who isn't a speedster? That's ELEVEN speedsters in 3 seasons. It's overkill, it's stupid and I'm tired of it. Especially since this last season was like a 40 hour hand wringing session over Iris dying. I stopped caring around episode ten and just wanted it to be over with. I mean, stab her already. Geez.

But maybe things are turning around. This season promises to have a bad guy without speed! My god, what an idea!

A few characters have been confirmed for this season, including private-eye Ralph Dibny. DC vets know that Dibney is the Elongated Man and I am really hoping the CGI is going to be decent. It took them a while to get Mr. Fantastic down, but the technology is there now, right? Apparently Dibny is going to be somewhat shady, which is fine, considering how squeaky clean everyone else on the show is. Kreisberg, the creator of The Flash and Arrow (among others) says that “There’s going to be a lot of conflict between [the Flash and Dibny] in terms of how to be a good guy. Ralph is hitting on everybody all the time. He’s brash and loud and doesn’t listen. He’s also hiding something about how he acquired his powers of malleability, which is one of the big mysteries of the season.”

While a "good" foil to the Flash is interesting, moreso is the choice of villain, which will be the Thinker this season. The Thinker is a plotter and planner (think Riddler), who thinks as fast as Flash can run. It will be interesting to see how that plays out, and which B and C list heroes they'll bring in.

And yes, I'm sure we will have at least a few speedster fights.

They already paid for that CGI, after all.
