X-Factor's Multiple Man Is Getting A Standalone Movie Starring James Franco?News | DLH.NET The Gaming People

Now this is an odd choice (if it actually happens).

A while back, I covered the (potentially) exciting news about The New Mutants film, which is being marketed as a horror flick. I mentioned that if they keep playing with genres (like they did with Logan), then this "superhero" fatigue we keep hearing about might not actually come to pass as quickly as everyone is saying it will.

But, still, this is just kinda weird.

The Hollywood Reporter is, well, reporting that Multiple Man, is getting a standalone film. Multiple Man, a mutant who can replicate himself when he takes damage, is a D-list hero on an old, C-list super hero team, X-Factor, and the fact that they are turning it into a standalone film is kind of baffling. It's not even an X-Force film, starring Multiple Man, it's just him in a movie of his own. This isn't like a Wolverine movie, it'd be more like making a movie about...I dunno, Banshee or something. The fact that they have James Franco attached, however, is intriguing.

Love him or hate him, James Franco (who has played Harry Osborne/Green Goblin in past Spider-Man flicks) always does interesting projects. From the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus to A Wizard of Oz flick, he's definitely not a fan of boring films and even if they aren't all great, they are consistently interesting.

The intruging thing about Multiple Man (whose multiplying powers are only held in check with a suit created by Professor X), is that he can create multiple versions of himself, and then his doubles (which share a kind of hive mind with him) do not have to be reabsorbed immediately. One can go to, say, New York, while another flies to China. Any memories or skills they learn will come back to him once he reabsorbs the doubles. This mechanic could make the movie go in a million different ways (pardon the pun).

Hang tight, I'll do some more digging and let you know what I find, cuz this is some strange, April Fools type stuff, but last I checked? It ain't April.
