Give this video a watch if you've got a few minutes, because this is some seriously interesting stuff. Not only is it just a great recap of an incredible career (136 acting roles!), it's a fun, insightful watch on how the movies we love work. The good people at Every Frame A Painting have broken down lot of great films and genres on their youtube channel, but this one might be my favorite.
Focusing on action comedy in this particular video, they go take by take, film by film, explaining not only how it works, but why it works. From Jackie's use of unusual weapons to his form of physical "jokes" and their corresponding "punchlines", there's a lot more to it that meets the eye and it's a joy to watch these guys explain it while showing you at the same time. If anyone has married laughs with violence better, I defy you to tell me who and where they are.
Well...maybe The Three Stooges.
