I really like Black Mirror, and lemme tell you why. Even when the show misses (and to be honest, I think I could make one "great" season out of the first two), it always makes me think about our society and more importantly, where our society is headed. I have enjoyed a lot of episodes of the show, especially ones like Nosedive, where people's desperation to be seen and well-received ends with absurd consequences. The show always makes a satirical attempt at looking at our society through a technological lens, which more and more is becoming the only way to do it, given our proclivity for phones, internets, devices, etc.

With this is mind, I am stoked to see one of the newest episodes, "Hang the DJ" (Black Mirror's fourth season is coming, and they are releasing little trailers for each episode). I don't personally use tinder, match.com, bumble & bumble or whatever, but I know a million people who have. In today's world, it's seems so difficult to just approach someone and have genuine conversation without glancing (or straight-up staring) at your phone every 2 minutes. It's harder still to catch someone's eye on the train, or across a room when their neck is bent, eyes intently fixed on a screen, and most likely yours are as well.

In the newest episode, people on the dating scene have small devices made by some mega-company that will find your "perfect match". Not only that, it's sort of like a dating coach, buddy and secretary mixed with SIRI, where you can ask for dating tips, conversation starters, advice, and the device will even tell you how long your relationship will last.

I've already said enough, take a look at the trailer, and keep your eyes open for when Black Mirror returns in 2018 on Netflix.
