Tons of movie news lately!
A while back we reported that Justice Smith was joining the Pikachu cast, and now they are getting everyone's favorite Merc with a Mouth, Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds' goofy delivery and ridiculous work on Deadpool will probably serve him well in this film; he knows how to play this kind of role. Reynolds will star as the titular Inspector Pikachu, an investigator who is "good at finding things", and the role will be "motion-capture" in nature.
If you somehow don't know, Pokemon launched with a video game that transformed into a card-collecting, TV and movie franchise phenomenon, and has players collecting and training cute little Pokemon, who eventually grow into more and more ferocious (but still pretty cute) beasts. The trainers then make them battle in vicious blood-matches.
The story kicks off when Justice Smith's character's father is kidnapped, and they have to call in Pikachu to help. Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) is directing the project, which is due to start shooting mid-January in London.
