Those who are in the know, know damn well a lot of people have been waiting for a big screen adaptation of this for a long time. I know many of you are afraid it's gonna get screwed up, but we can collectively take heart in the fact that James FRIGGIN Cameron is at the helm (screenplay) and Robert Rodriguez is directing (Sin City, Desperado)!
Based on the Manga of the same name, Alita: Battle Angel is set in a post-apocalyptic future and focuses on Alita, a cyborg with amnesia who is found in a garbage heap by a cybernetics doctor, who then kindly rebuilds her. The only thing she remembers is a legendary cyborg martial art called Panzer Kunst (which is badass), and before long, she turns into a robot-bounty hunter. Alita kicks ass while trying to piece together her past, but the movie by James Cameron (this guy has a thing for cyborgs, hasn't he?) will adapt "the spine story" of Yukito Kishiro's manga, with a specific focus on the first four books. He especially wants to include the fictional sport of "Motorball" from the third and fourth volume.
Motorball...hmmmm...we'll see about that.
Take a look at the trailer below, the movie drops July 20th, 2018.
