If you have never seen Tremors, I pity you. Tremors was an awesome, gory, horror-action-comedy film from the 90's, a movie that was centered around the incomparable Kevin Bacon as he fought against giant, sarlacc-style sand worms in Texas. The movie was super low-budget, and also really good in a "it's so good it's bad" kind of way. It actually has an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Told you.
The sequels have been hit or miss, and I'm man enough to admit that. Some are good, most are crap. When you get into the 5th and 6th sequel, you can't help but feel nervous. Pretty much immediately after the first film, Kevin Bacon jumped ship and the series began to center around the paranoid, weapon-hoarding, survivalist redneck, Burt Gummer. He was a lot of fun in the original, and after Bacon bailed, he was really the only logical choice.
The new film is titled"Tremors 6: A Cold Day In Hell" for no apparent reason (they couldn't come up with a good underground/worm name, like "Tremors 2: Aftershocks?), and stars Michael Gross as Burt, who has basically made his career into churning out Tremors movies. Set for release in May of 2018, the movie is rated PG-13 (as are all the Tremors movies) and finally has both a name and a synopsis.
“Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the artic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponized, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!”
