I realize that this is basically "proof" of a "maybe", but hey; after that Dark Tower flick, I think everyone is just looking for a bright spot. The film, as we all know, tanked, and it tanked hard, both critically and commercially, which is a shame. I think that Idris Elba could have made a good Roland, and the kid they picked for Jake... well, alright, he sucked. Point being, they had some pieces in place, and one of the best series in fantasy history to use as a blueprint, and they did not make good. They made bad, and it's a drag.
But there may be some good news! Stephen King had the following statement for a gentleman who runs a Dark Tower website, and the result of that statement? A hard "maybe". Watch the clip below to see how hard Stephen King kind of commits to maybe writing another book in Roland's world. I for one really hope he does. The Wind Through The Keyhole was written well after the series ended (like eight years later), and I enjoyed it quite a bit, plus we were introduced to some new monsters (skinwalkers), which was cool to see. Anytime I can get some kind of solid expansion (looking at you Marvel Comic's Gunslinger Series) I'm a happy King fan.
