Much like Gotham or Smallville, Krypton takes place before the Man of Steel was the Man of Steel. The big difference here is that Krypton is set way before Clark ever put on the cape.
The previous trailers for the series have been a little weak in my opinion. I love Superman, but the thought of Krypton political intrigue just doesn't really excite me, especially if no one on Krypton has powers or anything. Basically it's just futuristic politics, and I got plenty of that in The Phantom Menace.
However, this latest trailer has added an additional layer that is pretty interesting. There is a time-traveling human who is trying to help out old Krypton, a kid who knows about Superman, from his own time. Now, an unknown threat is attempting to wipe out the planet and stop Superman from ever reaching Earth.
It's an interesting, if a little redundant plot; a man from the future is traveling back in time to blow up a planet before it's already set to blow up. Still, it's better than watching Jor-El sit through a Kryptonian senate meeting.
Krypton premiers March 21 on Syfy.
Very good game
