A lot of people thought that Ant-Man was too "kiddy", but not this guy. I'll admit, I had to re-calibrate my expectations after about twenty minutes in, but once I did, I liked it a lot. The humor is light and most of the jokes hit, they used a lot of creative scenarios for Ant-Man's powers, and they stayed away from the whole "Hank Pym beating the crap out of his wife" angle, that, to be honest, I don't think anyone really wanted to see anyways. The flick was a hit, but plans for the sequel have been less than forthcoming, until now.
With a July 6th release date, Marvel just released the first trailer, and although we have a lot of Marvel coming our way in the next few months with Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, it's not too early to start getting excited for Ant-Man and the Wasp. Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) tries to balance his home life as a father with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, in addition to being on the run for his actions during Civil War. With the newly minted hero Wasp by his side, they charge through a series of action-packed scenarios, including enlarging a pez dispenser to smash a motorcycle, shrinking down to run along thrown blades and more ridiculousness.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is directed by Peyton Reed and will hit theaters on July 6th.
