Well, this is disappointing. Damn teaser trailers... just give me something substantial. Check out the first official Venom footage below, which does NOT feature Venom, but does show Tom Hardy in a convenience store, riding a motorcycle, and wearing an ass-less hospital gown. Sorry girls, you do not get to see Eddie Brock's ass.
You also very briefly see the symbiote, of course being held in a big containment tube by some asshole businessman looking guy in a suit.
I am very worried about this film. No Spider-Man, and Venom as a two hour origin story is just not sounding that great. I loved the film-Venom idea because you can have two concurrent story-lines, with Peter Vs. Eddie, then Spider-Man Vs. Venom. That's the only way that makes sense to me, but maybe these Hollywood fat-cats are doing it in a different way that doesn't crap all over the character (cough, cough, Topher Grace looks like a bitch, cough), and still gives us a Venom that retains some of his original origin.
Maybe.
Somehow.
