We still have some time until Pacific Rim Uprising hits theaters, but these new posters should get you adequately stoked for the robot-monster smashing madness. Each of these new IMAX posters shows off a new Jaeger, which, of course, are the hulking, Power Rangers style zord-mechs that humanity has built to take on the monsters that keep attacking the world.
Pacific Rim Uprising takes place 10 years after the Battle of the Breach, and humanity has been experiencing a period of peace... but the oceans have begun to stir once again, and luckily ,the Jaeger program has evolved into the next generation for the PPDC. However, something has reopened the Breach for the Kaiju and a Jaeger has gone rogue. Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, rises up to stand against the evolved Kaiju and the rogue Jaeger to prevent humanity's extinction and preserve his father’s legacy.
Now, the plot here doesn't really matter. What matters is watching giant mechs beat the piss out of monsters while 100 stoned teenagers cheer from the theater seats.
Let's check out the new mechs and their weapons.
These new Jaegers are as follows:
Bracer Phoenix sporting its centrifugal vortex cannon.
Next is Guardian Bravo, wielding the Elec-16 Arc Whip.
Finally, we got this badass, Gipsy Avenger, an updated version of Gipsy Danger from the first film.
Pacific Rim: Uprising will hit theaters March 23rd.
