It sounds like, despite previous reports to the contrary, Zach Snyder was fired from the DCU. The official story at the time was that Joss Whedon had to take over some reshoots, since Snyder needed to be with his family after the death of his daughter. Turns out, According to former Mashable editor Josh L. Dickey, the good folk at Warner Bros just didn't want to kick a man while he was down.
"Since I'm shifting into DGAF mode, here's a hot one for ya: Zack Snyder was fired from the DCEU just over 1 year ago," Dickey said in a tweet, "Couldn't write it ~quite~ that way at the time, but was able to tapdance around it [clumsy/oblique headline not mine]."
Dickey was the man who was responsible for the published article about Snyder's departure, and he also broke the news that Snyder would be getting a "significantly smaller role" at DC Films, and would "no longer have anything like the level of creative influence that got the franchise to this point."
I'm not sure this news is all that surprising to anyone, after the extremely split-to-negative reviews of almost everything that Snyder is touched. I realize that a director isn't responsible for everything, but you know when you are watching a Snyder movie; that guy leaves his fingerprints on films like a toddler covered in spaghetti. That guy does not understand the DCU. Take a look at the list of DC flicks he has directed/written, their corresponding RT score, and tell me that he should be helming one of the biggest franchises in the world right now.

No. No, they are not. He's bad, they're bad, and I can't wait to get someone new in there. Stop hurting my DC, please.
