The new Die Hard flick (which will star Bruce Willis, who has to be just going through the motions at this point) will get a rewrite from a strange source, according to reports.
Fresh off of writing duties on the Conjuring's sequel (they also wrote the Conjuring 1), Chad and Carey Hayes have been hired by 20th Century Fox to rewrite the script for the new Die Hard film, with Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) directing and producing. Bruce Willis return once again to play "bald-is-cool supercop who is always having a bad day, John McClane. The film has been rumored to be an origin story of sorts, where we would see a young McClane in the 70s, but this theory keeps getting pushed around. I've heard there will be two concurrent stories that flash between a "young" McClane and the grizzled vet we all know and love, and I have also heard that it will be a young McClane for 95% of the movie, with voice-overs and what would amount to a near-cameo from Willis bookending the film. As of yet, there has been no plot synopsis released.
It's a bit strange to have these two rewriting the film, especially since they have almost exclusively stuck to horror: The Conjuring I & II, the Reaping, House of Wax, and an upcoming horro flick called "The Turning", which is a terrible name for a film.
The newest Die Hard film is currently untitled, with no release date as of yet.
