This new trailer is beautiful, and has pretty much everything you'd want in a Spidey flick, especially one that is exploring the Spider-Verse: sprawling city scapes, high-flying web-slinging, a beautiful comic-book style presentation, a host of baddies from Parker's rogue's gallery in alternate versions, a new Spider-Man (Miles Morales, finally getting his big screen albeit animated appearance), and even Spider-Gwen!
The bad guys I caught in the trailer appear to be Ultimate versions, or at least inspired by the Ultimate universe, especially the Green Goblin, who is a literal monster in the Ultimate world, looking like some kind of fire-breathing/throwing demon. I also caught a glimpse of Prowler, who began his career (and first iteration) as Hobie Brown, a smart but angry teenager who got fired from his window washing job. He ends up using his engineering skills for personal profit, making a costume and turning to crime, before being reformed by Parker. Prowler has had about 15 iterations after that, with Hobie being paralyzed then not, possibly a mutant, and even having his identity assumed by clones, female cat burglars and more. Who knows which Prowler we'll see here.
Check out the trailer below, the animation is really making this one look like something special, and I can't wait to see Spider-Gwen in action, not to mention the mountains of Spider-Man cameos that we're sure to get.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse arrives in theaters December 14th.
