Well, this is odd indeed. I know, I know, I'm old as shit, and no one remembers Arachnophobia, but you should; the movie was like a national treasure in the 90's. At least the remake is coming from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and James Wan’s Atomic Monster, although why you would remake this film, I don't know. Especially with no John Goodman.

So far, the news we have is pretty overwhelming; as reported by Variety, there are no actors attached, no director, no writers, no, well, nothing. Not even sure why they announced it, but this is the culture we live in. Everything is news, especially when it isn't news.

The original was not only badass, it was Frank Marshall's directorial debut, and there were a gang of fine actors who went on to crush completely crush it: Jeff Daniels, the aforementioned John Goodman, Harley Jane Kozak, and Julian Sands. The film was (how can you not know this?) about a particularly vicious spider who was accidentally brought to small town USA, and it promptly birthed a bunch of evil little spiders that began to prey on the town. They were running unchecked until *SPOILER ALERT* big John Goodman came in like a badass with a flamethrower and did nothing short of completely handling his business like a goddamn man,.

Let's hope this flick doesn't shit the bed like the Robocop reboot, where they forgot that half the fun was letting the audience in on the joke with a satirical wink.
