I'm looking forward to this series mainly due to the fact that I don't like Futurama but I love the Simpsons. I'm interested to see where this is going to fall in terms of how much I enjoy it, but I already love the setting; anything medieval already has a leg up, as far as I'm concerned. As the trailer states, Groening has already done the future with Futurama, and done... now (ish?) with the Simpsons, so there's nowhere left to go but into the past.
Disenchantment is set in a medieval world called Dreamland, where "a hard-drinking” princess lives, and has a disapproving King for a father. She has two friends (or familiars) that help her get into shenanigans; one is an Elf who is creatively named "Elfo" (voiced by actor Nat Faxon) and the other is a demon named Luci (voiced by actor Eric Andre, who is sometimes funny and sometimes just irritating as hell). Besides the backgrounds, the show looks a lot like the Simpsons, and obviously it also looks a bit like Futurama. It's Groening all day.
Not much else is known about the show, as Netflix and Groening have been pretty tight-lipped, but if you've seen Futurama or the Simpsons, I'm pretty sure you can guess what you're in store for here: jokes, outlandish situations, touching moments, then more jokes.
We'll know for sure when the show premiers on Netflix, August 17th.
