SPOILERS FOR THE LAST TWO STAR WARS FILMS AHEAD
We are running out of Star Wars alums to put in the films, with Han Solo and Luke Skywalker dying in the films and Princess Leia dying in real life. In short, we're kind of getting down to it. Sure, we still got Chewie, but hell, there aren't a ton left. But we still got Billy Dee!
Multiple outlets are reporting that the galaxy's second favorite rogue, Lando Calrissian, a.k.a. Billy Dee Williams is on board to return for Star Wars: Episode IX. That's about all we know thus far, but the movie isn't expected until Christmas in 2019, so there's plenty of time to sort it out, and sort it out we will. This is on the heels of another piece of casting news, chiefly Keri Russell signing on for Episode IX, although that's all we know about her as well, in terms of which role she will play.
Lando the character appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, and is introduced as an old friend of Han Solo. He is revealed to have been the original owner of the Millennium Falcon, until he lost the ship to Han in a bet. A former smuggler, Lando hits on Leia hard as hell and is the Baron-Administrator of the Cloud City on Bespin, before totally boning Han by selling him out to Vader. He later becomes part of the Rebel Alliance.
Billy Dee Williams hasn't been quiet in recent years, voicing Lando and other characters in various cartoons and games, only some of which are Star Wars based. Lando the character hasn't been quiet either, most recently being portrayed by Donald Glover in the underwhelming Star Wars spin-off, Solo: A Star Wars Story.
